Project Description
Hive Inner Cover
Also called inside covers, this simple piece of equipment creates the proper bee space on the top of the hive and prevents the bees from attaching the top cover to the hive. Masonite free and built to last a long time.
Center oval cutout to accomodate top feeders, bee escape and ventilation. Notched rail for secondary exit and ventilation.
Available in your choice of NUC, 8-frame or 10-Frame. This Inner hive Cover is made to last with a rigid rabbet joint frame and 3/8″ plywood. The 3/8″ plywood is glued and nailed into a rabbet in the pine rim. We think this is the strongest inner cover on the market today. Also, we cut a notch in the top rim for better ventilation and as an upper entrance/escape for the bees
Dimensions: 19 7/8″ x 16 1/4″ x 3/4″
Assembled:
3/8″ plywood decking
Eastern White Pine side rails – 1 7/8″ wide
Glued & Stapled
This provides a summer and winter insulation barrier between the outside cover as well as a protective barrier that allows bees to propolis the cover in place thus preventing them from gluing down the Extended metal top cover or the Transportation wooden stacking Cover. The Inner cover also protects the core brood from accidental drowning or contamination by sugar water if you have malfunctions during top feeder methods.
